Hi there. I am a current student at Santa Fe College pursing a Bachelors degree in Networking. I received my Associate's Degree in Network Administration from Santa Fe in December 2018.  

 

I currently live in Gainesville, and I love what it has to offer- beautiful and plentiful areas of nature for exploring, enriching local cultural events, and a thriving startup scene are all some reasons why I've stayed here for 5 years so far.

I first discovered my love for all things tech when I was around 12 years old, my father was tinkering with some parts in his desktop and I wandered over and was instantly intrigued by computers. I started to get more interested in video games as well and I think that played a part too. Throughout high school and after I graduated, I knew I was interested in tech but didn't really know how that could transform into a career. After moving back to Gainesville I finally decided to go back to school for what I was passionate about, information technology.

 

It has been a wonderful experience and I can say I truly love all that I'm learning while acquiring this degree. How a computer runs, how networking protocols interface with each other, how the internet was formed and how it works, these subjects and more have fascinated me since the start of this learning journey, and I'm even more excited to see what I will learn as this journey continues during my B.A.S degree.

I still have a strong love for video games and it has become one of my favorite hobbies to unwind after a long day. I also enjoy dancing and aerial arts, reading, and hanging out with my cat. My husband and I also go and do local workshops occasionally such as sculpting, forging, and hand drumming.

I am currently employed as Head of Operations for Student Maid, a cleaning company based in Gainesville ,FL. I am responsible for running the office, managing employees, and being the front line for clients looking to book with us. Student Maid was founded in 2009 by a UF college grad, Kristen Hadeed, and the mission of the company is to provide students with the job flexibility they need while also teaching them personal and professional development and other necessary skills for having a job or career. While not a tech job, this position has afforded me numerous learning opportunities for me as a leader and as a business person. Working at Student Maid is fulfilling because even over the 3 years I have worked here I have seen people transform into more confident and capable individuals. After graduation I would like a job in my field, my goal is that I can take all the valuable lessons I have learned from Student Maid and bring it along to any future positions.
